Special Events

Throughout the year, the City of Huntington Woods Parks and Recreation Department offers a series of special programs designed for the enjoyment of children, family and adults.  For the most up to date information, refer to the HWP&R Events section of the Hometown Herald. There are several annual events you may want to keep in mind including:  The Adult Euchre Tournament (January); Daddy/Daughter Dance (January); Movies in the Gym (February); Adult or Teen Wild Rides (vary); Family Night (June or July); Concerts in the Park (June – July); Hay Day (October) and Breakfast with Santa (December).

CONCERTS IN THE PARK
The Parks and Recreation Department hosts an annual summer concert series**.  All concerts are free and are held at Scotia Park and Gillham Recreation Center (rain location) on Tuesdays at 7:15 p.m. unless otherwise noted from the end of June through July.  Arts and crafts activities will be available for children during the concerts, from 7:15 - 8:15 p.m. for a nominal fee.  Sorry, no dogs are allowed and no smoking is permitted in any City parks. Food trucks will be featured at each concert, starting at 6:30 pm, view the schedule of food trucks for 2022 here

** Bands interested in performing should send promotional packages to the Gillham Recreation Center, 26325 Scotia Road, Huntington Woods, 48070.  Concerts are typically secured by January for the upcoming summer.

NEW RESIDENTS RECEPTION
Annually, the City, local clubs & organizations and City officials come together to welcome our new residents.  This adults-only event alternates locations between the Library and Recreation Center and is typically held at the end of February or beginning of March.  Watch for information in the Winter or Spring Newsletter.  For more information, contact Charlene Nutton, Chair, at 248 547.9818.
